Macadamia Market Update: Australian 2026 Crop Forecast Lowered by 4%

The Australian Macadamia Society has revised its 2026 crop forecast down to 56,888 tonnes (3.5% moisture), equivalent to approximately 61,000 tonnes in-shell (10% moisture). While this is slightly below the initial March forecast, it still represents a significant recovery from the 2025 crop of 43,800 tonnes.

The revision follows updated industry data from the June harvest assessment, reflecting mixed seasonal conditions across Australia's key growing regions. Bundaberg (QLD) has experienced favourable harvest weather and strong nut quality, while persistent rainfall across northern New South Wales and south-east Queensland has delayed harvest and increased the risk of quality losses in some orchards.

Despite regional variability, overall production is expected to remain well above last year's levels. Kernel recovery has improved as the harvest has progressed, although smaller nut sizes in some varieties continue to affect yields.

With harvest still underway in parts of New South Wales and south-east Queensland, final production figures will be confirmed once the season concludes later this year.

For buyers and processors, the revised July 2026 forecast suggests Australian supply will be stronger than in 2025 but slightly tighter than originally anticipated. As harvest wraps up over the coming months, the market will be watching closely for final production figures and any impact on global supply and pricing.
