Peanuts
Peanut markets are currently being driven by strong demand for sowing seeds in India, with government sales accelerating and prices rising 25–30% YoY. Export demand from Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, remains steady, supporting international pricing. At the same time, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are creating uncertainty, as fears around oil supply disruptions have triggered increased retail stocking and higher prices. The market outlook remains volatile, with pricing direction heavily dependent on how the US–Iran situation develops.
Hazels
The hazelnut market is facing a mix of regulatory pressure and supply concerns, particularly with surprise EU inspections targeting major players like Ferrero Group over potential antitrust issues. Hazel supply remains tight due to limited availability of high-quality nuts, while pest risks such as the stink bug are adding further uncertainty for upcoming crops. Despite weak local demand in Türkiye, export demand is holding firm, supported by a weaker Turkish Lira and buyers taking advantage of more “workable” price levels. Overall, prices are stable but sensitive to both regulatory developments and crop risks.
Macadamias
Macadamia markets are seeing regulatory tightening in Kenya, where authorities are cracking down on unlicensed dealers to protect quality and farmers. However, global demand remains subdued in key markets like North America and Europe, leading to softer prices in recent weeks. While new crop shipments are beginning and early demand is picking up slightly, suppliers expect further price pressure due to cautious buying and limited consumption growth. The market is currently balanced between improving supply and still-weak demand fundamentals.
